Smilovice [ Village or Town/City ]

This small agricultural village is situated on the northern foot of Moravian-Silesian Beskydy.

The roots of the village reach far into the past. By 1448, it belonged to Ozan of Smilovice and later it was possessed by Těšín noblemen. Smilovice became independent as recently as 1850.

The village has a harrow in its coat of arms as proof that its inhabitants worked on the land since the beginning of time.

Plní funkci základního stupně územní samosprávy a v různé míře je také vykonavatelem státní správy.
