Kunín [ Village or Town/City ]

Kunín is situated only 4 kilometres from the town of Nový Jičín. It spreads out on both banks of the Jičínka river. The municipality was originally established as a forest village at the end of the 13th century. It flourished by the end of the 18th century under the administration of the Countess Walburga from Truchsess-Zeil, who supported education here. She founded an educational youth instutute (at that time it was the only one in Europe) The institute was even attended by František Palacký.

Plní funkci základního stupně územní samosprávy a v různé míře je také vykonavatelem státní správy.
