Protected landscape area and biosphere reserve Pálava [ Protected Landscape Area ]Giant calcareous cliff with very rich steppe and forest-steppe flora and fauna. In the valley of the river Dyje, floodplain forests with unique wetlands have been preserved. The area around Mikulov is noticeably influenced by viniculture. As an example of the harmonic utilisation of nature by man, the area has been included in the network of UNESCO biosphere reserves within the MAB programme.
